Lisa Anderson Lantz captured this video of a male House Sparrow pecking and removing an egg from a Purple Martin nest. The male has a large black bib, indicating high levels of testosterone.
Lisa actively manages House Sparrows, but this video demonstrates the importance of continually eliminating sparrows. Despite ongoing efforts, more sparrows continue to appear. This attack took all of 36 seconds. Without a nestcam in the box, it would not be clear what actually happened.
